Meuse River Cycling Route

The Meuse river towpath through Maasmechelen is part of one of Belgium's best long-distance cycling routes. The flat riverside path follows the Meuse north into the Netherlands and south toward Liège, offering an easy ride through a working river landscape of barges, weirs, and poplar-lined banks. Maasmechelen sits where the Belgian, Dutch, and German borders converge — a short ride north brings you to the Drielandenpunt, the point where all three meet.

Bike rental is available in the area, and the route is well-signed as part of the Vennbahn and LF6 cycle networks. The three-country junction at Vaals/Drielandenpunt makes for a satisfying half-day ride from Maasmechelen, particularly in good weather when the Limburg countryside is at its most appealing.
