Zilvermeer is the larger and better-known of Mol's two beach lakes, lying a few kilometres east of town. Like Zilverstrand it started out as a sand quarry, but the water that now fills it is clean enough for swimming and the beach is broad and well-equipped. On a warm Belgian summer weekend the crowds can be substantial — this is a popular destination for families from across the province.
Beyond the beach itself, Zilvermeer hosts outdoor concerts and events through the summer season, which can make the atmosphere livelier than a typical lakeshore. It is worth checking what is on if you happen to be in Mol at the right time of year.
