Zilverstrand — Silver Beach — is a smaller and somewhat quieter alternative to its neighbour Zilvermeer. The lake occupies a former sand quarry, and the fine pale sand that gave it its name is the same material that was once extracted here industrially. The water is clear and clean, the beach well maintained.
Because it is the less famous of the two lakes, Zilverstrand tends to feel less crowded on busy summer days, which is reason enough to seek it out if you want a calmer afternoon by the water.
