Banderitsa Lakes

The Banderitsa Lakes are a chain of small, glacial lakes scattered through the alpine basin above the Banderitsa Hut in Pirin National Park. There are five named lakes — Dalgoto, Ribnoto, Krivoto, Okotoand and Murato — most of them above 2,200 metres, fringed in summer with wildflowers and mossy granite slabs.

The walk up from the hut is gentle by Pirin standards: about an hour to the first lake, two or three to do the full circuit. The path is well-marked and busy on weekends in July and August. Combine with a swing past the Baikusheva Mura tree on the way down to the road.
