Belogradchik is about 50 km southeast of Vidin and about 200 km northwest of Sofia. By car the drive from Vidin takes under an hour; from Sofia allow 2.5 to 3 hours via the E79 highway. There is no train service to Belogradchik — the nearest station is in Vidin.
Bus connections from Vidin run several times daily and are the standard way to arrive without a car. From Sofia, a direct bus takes around 3 hours. Most visitors arrive as a day trip from Vidin, though staying a night in Belogradchik gives you more time to explore the rocks in different light.
