Kaliakra Lighthouse

The Kaliakra Lighthouse stands at the very tip of the headland, a slim white tower above the red cliffs. The current structure is modern, but a beacon of some kind has marked this corner of the Black Sea coast since antiquity — Greek and later Ottoman ships used the cape as a landmark.

The lighthouse is operational and not open to visitors, but the path to it crosses the most spectacular part of the reserve, with cliffs falling 70 metres into the water on three sides. Look down for dolphins; pods regularly cruise the base of the cliffs.
