Gabrovo is reached by road from Veliko Tarnovo, Kazanlak, Tryavna, and Sevlievo. Buses are usually more useful than trains for travellers, though rail connections exist via nearby lines. A car makes the surrounding sights much easier, especially Etar, Sokolski Monastery, Bojentsi, and Shipka Pass.
