Gabrovo follows the upper Yantra River through a narrow valley, and a walk along the central stretches gives the city some shape. You see the practical side of town here: bridges, apartment blocks, small shops, and the mountain slopes closing in around the river.
It is not a grand promenade, but it is a useful way to connect the centre, the House of Humour and Satire, and everyday Gabrovo. Go in the late afternoon, when the traffic eases and the valley light softens the concrete.
