Sandanski's attractions are concentrated in and around the town park, where the ruins of ancient Parthicopolis are partially visible and the archaeological museum stands. The Pirin mountains provide a dramatic backdrop and easy access to hiking. The town itself is small and walkable — most of what you'll want to see is within a kilometre of the centre.
