A vast covered market hall on Maria Luiza Boulevard, finished in 1911 in a Neo-Renaissance style with a clock tower and twin arched entrances. The building was the marketplace of pre-war Sofia and still functions as one, though the upper floor is now a shopping arcade.
The ground floor is the place to come for cheese, charcuterie, honey, and herbs from across the country. The Jewish wine merchant on the basement level sells Bulgarian wine by the bottle and by the glass. Open every day.
