Hadjidraganov's Houses

A theatrical Bulgarian-folk restaurant in a converted nineteenth-century house near Lavov Most. Three floors of carved wood, low ceilings, live folk music in the evenings, and a long menu of pre-Ottoman village recipes — stuffed peppers, lamb shanks slow-cooked in clay pots, banitsa with white cheese.

It is unapologetically a tourist place, but the food is good and the musicians are real. Book ahead, and ask for an upstairs table near the gallery — the acoustic carries the band without overwhelming the conversation.
