Danube Promenade

A two-kilometre riverfront park along the south bank of the Danube, running from the modern bridge down past Baba Vida and into the old town. It is the social heart of Vidin in summer — locals walk it in the early evening, cafes spill out onto the grass, and the river makes the air several degrees cooler than the streets behind.

The promenade gives Vidin its best views: across to the Romanian town of Calafat, downstream to the bridge, and upstream to the fortress walls. A few stalls sell ice cream and beer; the cafe terraces around the boat club are particularly pleasant at dusk. The promenade is the main reason Vidin holds up as a place to spend a night rather than just an afternoon.
