Burhou

Tiny islet off Alderney, best known for puffins, seabirds, and strictly limited landing access.

Burhou is a low, uninhabited islet northwest of Alderney, close enough to be part of the island's mental map but protected enough to feel separate. Its main draw is wildlife, especially puffins and other seabirds using the surrounding rocks and short turf.

Landing is restricted for conservation, so most travellers experience Burhou from a boat trip or from Alderney's western viewpoints. Treat it as a wildlife sight rather than a picnic island, and bring binoculars if birds are part of the plan.
