Southern Cliff Path

The south end of Herm rises into proper cliffs — eighty metres above the sea at the highest point — with a coastal path running the whole way along the top. The view east to Sark across the open sea is one of the great Channel Islands views.

Allow about ninety minutes for the southern half of the circular cliff walk, from the harbour over the high ground to Belvoir Bay or Shell Beach. Wildflowers in May; seabirds (kittiwakes, fulmars, the occasional puffin) nesting on the cliffs through summer. Sturdy shoes; the path is grass and gravel, and goes very close to the edge in places.
