Twenty minutes south of Karlovac on the old road to Plitvice, Žganjer has been one of the region's reference restaurants for decades. Roasted lamb and suckling pig from the spit, freshwater trout, and homemade strudels are the staples. The dining room is large but feels homely; bookings are advisable at weekends.
Worth the short detour from the motorway. They also run a small inn on site.
