Karlovac's food is inland Croatian cooking — game, freshwater fish from the four rivers, slow-cooked meats — washed down with Karlovačko on tap. Most of the better restaurants are in or just outside the old fortress town. River-trout, frogs' legs (a regional speciality, properly done here) and game stews are worth seeking out.
