Kamplin Square

Kamplin is the heart of old Krk — a stone square pressed between the Frankopan Castle, the cathedral complex, and the medieval town walls, opening out toward the sea. The name comes from the Latin campus, the Roman field where troops once drilled.

In summer it is the venue for outdoor concerts, the Krk Summer Festival, and the wine-and-folklore events that come with the season. The cafes around the edges are the obvious place to sit with a coffee or an evening drink and watch the town move through. The view from the harbour-side toward Cres and the mainland mountains is especially good at sunset.
