Mrljane Harbour

The harbour is the village in microcosm — a short stone breakwater, a dozen or so working fishing boats, and a line of small yachts that increases through the summer. There is no proper marina; instead, boats tie up at simple mooring rings along the quay or anchor a little way out in the channel.

A handful of stone houses face the water, two of them with terraces opening onto cafe-restaurants. Sit there at almost any hour and someone will be either coming back with the morning catch or heading out for an afternoon's fishing. The water in the harbour itself is clear enough to see the stones on the bottom.
