Marina and Harbourfront

Novigrad's marina is built into the old fishing harbour on the south side of the peninsula — a tight bowl of water with the old town wall on one side and a long concrete mole on the other. It is one of the most pleasant marinas on the Istrian coast: small enough to feel intimate, big enough for a row of waterfront cafe terraces.

The morning is the time to come, when the fishing boats unload at the small market on the mole. The promenade around the harbour gives the easiest views of the old town walls and the Lapidarium from the outside. The lighthouse at the tip of the breakwater is a popular sunset spot — turn up an hour before sundown and you will have company, but the view is worth it.
