Old Town Walls

Stretches of the medieval defensive wall still survive around the seaward edge of Novigrad's old town — the most complete sections are on the western side, behind the Lapidarium and along the promenade towards the marina. The walls date to the 13th century and were later strengthened by the Venetians.

You cannot walk along the top, but the path that follows the outside of the walls makes one of the most pleasant short circuits in town. At several points the path drops to small swimming platforms on the rocks. The walls are best in the late afternoon light, when the stone goes warm and the sea is calm.
