Cetina Gorge

The Cetina river cuts through a canyon of grey limestone karst before reaching the sea at Omiš, and the gorge is the most dramatic landscape feature in the area. The river is clear and cold even in midsummer; the cliffs on either side rise steeply from the water; and the road through the gorge (running inland from Omiš toward Zadvarje and the waterfall at Gubavica) passes some of the most striking scenery in Dalmatia.

For active visitors, the gorge is used for rafting (half-day trips from Omiš, no experience needed), canoeing, rock climbing, and a zip-line that crosses above the river. Several operators in town run guided trips; most depart in the morning. The Radmanove Mlinice restaurant, set beside the river in the gorge about 4 km from town, is a good lunch stop.
