Omis Beach

The main beach at Omis is a long shingle and pebble strand running south from the mouth of the Cetina. It is not the finest beach on the Dalmatian coast — the stones are rounded rather than fine, and the water clarity is occasionally affected by the river mouth — but it is serviceable and backed by the dramatic cliffs that make Omis distinctive. Beach bars and rental equipment are available in summer.

Better swimming is found a short drive north toward Split, where the pebble beaches are calmer and the water cleaner. The Omis beach is best understood as a convenience rather than a destination: if you are already here for the canyon and the old town, it provides a place to cool down at the end of the day.
