The main town beach runs the length of the promenade and is a typical Makarska Riviera affair: white pebbles, pine shade behind the shingle, and water that turns from turquoise close in to deep blue once you wade past your waist. It is rarely as crowded as Makarska's central beach a few kilometres north, partly because Podgora is a quieter town and partly because the pebbles here are slightly larger and less kind to bare feet.
Sun loungers and parasols can be rented for around ten euros a day in season; bring water shoes if you have them. The shallows are clear enough that you can usually see small fish moving over the bottom. A line of cafés and gelato bars along the promenade means you do not need to walk far for a cold drink. The far southern end, beyond the Seagull's Wings, is the quietest stretch with no facilities at all.
