Punat Marina

Marina Punat is one of the largest and best-equipped marinas in the Adriatic, with more than eight hundred berths spread across floating pontoons and a substantial dry-dock facility. It has been a fixture here since the 1960s and draws sailors from across Europe who use it as a base for cruising the Croatian islands. Even if you're not arriving by boat, the marina is worth a wander — the quays are lively in summer and the boatyard gives a real sense of the local maritime tradition.

The marina's position inside Punat Bay makes it exceptionally calm. Strong bora winds that can disrupt anchorages elsewhere on the Croatian coast are largely blocked by the hills to the north, and the bay's narrow entrance keeps chop to a minimum. This same shelter makes the water behind the marina warm and flat, and the shallows on the eastern side of the bay are popular with families.

Services include chandleries, repair workshops, several restaurants, and a supermarket aimed at provisioning crews. The fuel berth and crane are in constant use through the sailing season, and the whole atmosphere of the place is practical rather than showy — a working marina that happens to be in beautiful surroundings.
