Kremšnita — a generous slab of vanilla custard cream sandwiched between layers of light pastry — is Samobor's defining food, and you would be doing yourself a disservice to leave without eating one. Several cake shops on and around the main square serve their own versions; Gradska Kavana and Slastičarna Livadić are the most traditional. Each place claims its recipe is the original, which is half the fun. Eat it on the terrace with a coffee and watch the Sunday promenade.
