The Žumberak-Samoborsko Gorje Nature Park stretches across the forested hills and meadows immediately west and north of town. Marked hiking trails begin within easy walking distance of the main square, making it possible to step from cake shop to woodland path in minutes. A half-day loop through the lower hills is perfectly manageable; longer routes lead deeper into the park towards remote villages and valleys. The park is quietest on weekdays and at its best in spring and autumn when the foliage is at its most vivid.
