About 5 km north of town, near the village of Čitluk, are the remains of Aequum — a Roman colony founded for veterans of Legio VII Claudia in the first century AD. Foundations of a forum, traces of a thermal complex, and stretches of city wall survive in the fields.
Excavations have produced inscriptions, statuary, and tombstones, many of them now in the Archaeological Museum in Split. The site is open access; the surroundings are quiet pasture, and the visit pairs nicely with a drive through the Cetinska krajina villages.
