The Cetina flows out of the karst north of Sinj, runs through the plain past the town, and disappears south into a deep canyon before joining the Adriatic at Omiš. Around Sinj the river is broad and slow, lined with reeds and cottonwoods.
Fishing for trout and freshwater crayfish has been a local pastime for centuries and these still appear on Sinj menus. The canyon downstream of town is one of the best stretches for rafting in inland Dalmatia, with operators based in Omiš and Trilj running half-day trips.
