The eastern edge of the old town drops steeply off the limestone cliff to the sea far below, and the views from the wall-top path are the best in the settlement. On a clear day you can see across the Vinodol Channel to the Croatian mainland mountains, and south along the Kvarner Gulf toward the islands of Cres and Lošinj.
The path along the cliff edge is not formally maintained but is well-walked and safe in dry conditions. The best views are in the morning when the light comes from the east and illuminates the water. This is also where to be for sunset if the sky is clear — the light fades over the island to the west while the sea to the east stays bright for another half hour.
