The Regional Museum sits right on Peace Square, so it is an easy way to add context to the old town. Its collections cover local history, archaeology and the geology of the surrounding České středohoří, the volcanic uplands that shape the view beyond Litoměřice.
The museum also keeps the memory of Karel Hynek Mácha close to the town. The Czech Romantic poet lived and died in Litoměřice, and his story gives the place a more literary edge than its size suggests.
