Slavonice's underground passages run beneath the historic centre, part storage space, part drainage system, part reminder that wealthy old towns had practical problems too. Tours are seasonal and not a good idea if you dislike tight, damp spaces.
It is a useful counterpoint to the facades above. After looking at painted Renaissance houses in bright squares, descending into the narrow passages makes the town feel older and more physical.
