The former synagogue in Třešť holds a small exhibition on Franz Kafka, who spent childhood holidays here with his uncle Siegfried Löwy. It is a modest stop, but it changes the feel of the town: behind the highland quiet is a vanished Jewish community and one of Central Europe's most famous literary shadows.
Pair it with a walk through the centre rather than treating it as a stand-alone museum. The reward is context, not spectacle.
