Třešť's nativity scenes, or betlemy, are the town's best reason to visit. Local families have built them for generations, using carved wooden figures, moss, roots, painted backgrounds, moving details, and miniature landscapes that are rebuilt for the Christmas season.
The permanent exhibition in Schumpeter's house gives you a reliable look at the tradition. The real charm comes in winter, when some households open their private scenes to visitors between Christmas and early February.
