At the very tip of the Hammeren headland stands Hammer Odde Lighthouse, a modest white tower marking the northernmost point of Bornholm. The lighthouse has been guiding ships through the busy sea lanes here since 1872. It is not open to the interior, but the point itself is worth reaching — on clear days you can see across to Sweden, and the rocks at the water's edge have the raw, windswept quality of a true headland.
The path from Sandvig to the lighthouse and back takes about ninety minutes each way on the coastal route, or less if you cut through the heathland interior. The walk through the Hammeren nature area on the way is itself a reason to make the journey.
