Albuen is a curved sandy spit closing off the outer end of Nakskov Fjord, reachable only by the small passenger Postbåden ferry from Nakskov. It has a solitary 19th-century lighthouse, stretches of undeveloped white sand beach, and some of the richest birdlife on Lolland. There are no cars, no shops, and no permanent population — just the lighthouse keeper's cottage and the water on both sides. The 30-minute boat ride through the fjord's outer islands is as much the attraction as the spit itself.
