Three kilometres northeast of Sakskøbing, Berritzgaard is among the best-preserved Renaissance manor houses on Lolland. The red-brick main building was raised in the 1580s by Eiler Grubbe, royal chancellor under Frederik II, and retains its original moated layout with stepped gables and small corner turrets.
The house is privately owned and not regularly open, but the surrounding park and the approach across the moat bridge are visible from the public road. It is a quick detour if you are doing a loop of the Lolland manor houses — Krenkerup is a short drive south, Orebygaard a similar distance to the west.
