Knuthenborg Safari Park, 7 kilometres north of Maribo near Bandholm, is the largest safari park in northern Europe — 400 hectares of historic estate grounds converted into free-roaming enclosures. Visitors drive through areas with giraffes, white rhinos, Bengal tigers, zebras, and elephants; the elephant enclosure is the largest in northern Europe. The Dinosaur Forest adds full-scale animatronic models, and the Museum of Evolution houses one of the most complete Allosaurus skeletons ever found — 95 percent preserved and 9 metres long. Over 200,000 visitors a year. Open spring through autumn.
