Krenkerup Manor

Three kilometres southeast of Sakskøbing, Krenkerup is one of the oldest manor houses on Lolland — the main building goes back to the late sixteenth century, with parts of the surrounding moated complex older still. It belonged to the Hardenberg family for centuries and has the kind of red-brick, stepped-gable look that defines Danish Renaissance estate architecture.

The house itself is closed to the public, but the grounds are accessible and Krenkerup runs a small craft brewery in the old farm buildings. The brewery has a tasting room and shop selling its dark lagers and bock-style beers, and is the practical reason most visitors detour out here. Combine it with Orebygaard for a half-day loop of the estates north of town.
