Narva Town Hall is a small but important survivor. Built in the Swedish period, it once stood in the middle of a handsome baroque old town. After the devastation of 1944, the surrounding streets were rebuilt in a very different style, leaving the town hall isolated but all the more poignant.
The square around it is quieter than you might expect from a civic centre. Come here after the castle to understand the scale of what Narva lost, and how much of the city's identity now depends on fragments.
