Gjáargarður Guesthouse Restaurant

The Gjáargarður guesthouse is the social and practical centre of Gjógv. Built as a youth hostel in the 1980s and later converted to a small guesthouse, it sits above the village with views toward the gorge and the open sea beyond.

The restaurant serves a short menu of Faroese staples — lamb soup, fresh-caught fish, rye bread with local butter — and doubles as the only place in the village to sit down with a hot drink after a walk. Service is informal; the same person who shows you to your room is likely cooking your dinner. Day visitors are welcome but should call ahead to confirm the kitchen is open.
