Getting There

Saksun is about 45 km north of Torshavn, and the drive takes roughly an hour. There is no tunnel shortcut — you go over and through the open moorland. The road narrows considerably for the last stretch as it drops into the valley, and there is limited parking at the bottom. Arrive early in summer to avoid arriving to a full car park and a queue.

Public bus service to Saksun is limited to a handful of departures a week from Torshavn; check the Strandfaraskip Landsins timetable before relying on it. For any flexibility, a hire car is the practical choice.
