Prestgjógv is a dramatic narrow sea gorge at the end of the road past the village, where the cliffs that line Suðuroy's western coast briefly part and the Atlantic surges into a thin slot of rock. A short footpath leads down from the road end onto a viewpoint above the gorge — the sound of waves echoing in the chamber and the spray hitting hundreds of feet up the cliff face are the main attractions.
In storm conditions the spray is visible from the village. The path is unfenced and the cliff edge is loose in places — keep well back, particularly when it is wet. Twenty minutes from the road end and back again is enough for the view.
