Bøsdalafossur is the waterfall at the outlet of Sørvágsvatn, where the lake empties over the edge of the cliff and falls some 30 metres into the sea below. It is the natural endpoint of the hike along the southern shore of the lake from Sørvágur, and it completes the drama of the landscape — lake, cliff, fall, and ocean in a single view.
The full walk from the Sørvágur trailhead to Bøsdalafossur and back takes three to four hours, with modest elevation gain. The terrain is open moorland and the path is clear, though it can be slippery in wet weather. The waterfall itself is spectacular after heavy rain, which is most of the time. Combine this with the Sørvágsvatn illusion viewpoint on the same walk.
