The Artillery Museum of Finland sits beside Häme Castle, occupying former military warehouses that date from the castle's days as an active garrison. It covers the history of Finnish artillery from the 15th century to the present day, with a collection of cannon, field guns, rocket systems, and anti-tank weapons displayed in chronological order.
The exhibits are extensive for a specialist museum — over 100 pieces of artillery — and the building itself is part of the attraction, with the thick stone walls and brick vaulting of a 19th-century military storehouse. Particular strength comes from the Winter War and Continuation War collections: the museum documents how Finland, outgunned and outnumbered by Soviet forces in 1939–1940, held out through a combination of improvisation, local knowledge, and one of the most effective artillery deployments in modern military history.
The museum is recommended for visitors with any interest in military history and worthwhile even for those without — the sheer size of the ordnance on display is impressive, and the connection to the castle complex makes for a natural combined visit.
