Kruununpuisto Park surrounds the Imatrankoski gorge and is often described as Finland's oldest nature park. It was founded in 1842 by order of Tsar Nicholas I, which tells you how early Imatra's rapids became part of the region's tourist imagination.
Walk the paths before or after a rapids release. The park gives the water a setting: rock, trees, viewpoints, and the slightly formal air of a place that has been receiving visitors for a long time.
