Kemi City Hall is the town's most visible landmark, a 13-storey building completed in 1940. Its sturdy wartime history is part of the local story: German troops tried and failed to destroy it during the Lapland War.
The reason to visit is the top-floor viewing platform, which gives an easy overview of Kemi and the surrounding coast. There is also a cafeteria in the building.
