Lahti is one of the easiest cities to reach in Finland. The Helsinki–Lahti train is a fast intercity service running about every half hour during the day, taking roughly an hour from Helsinki Central. From Helsinki Airport, take the commuter train ("Ring Rail") to Tikkurila and change for a Lahti-bound intercity train; the trip takes around 70 minutes in all.
Bus connections run from Helsinki, Tampere, Jyväskylä and Kuopio. The bus station is in the centre, next to the railway station. There is no commercial passenger airport in Lahti.
By car, the city is about 100 km from Helsinki on the E75 motorway and is well signposted.
