Pakasaivo is a steep-sided saivo lake south of Muonio, long treated in Sami tradition as a place linked with the spirit world. Scientifically it is a meromictic lake, with deep water that does not mix normally with the surface layer.
It is remote enough to feel different from an ordinary roadside lake. The road is not maintained in winter, so check conditions before setting out.
