Korouoma is the big outdoor draw near Posio: a long bedrock canyon cut into forest, with cliffs, streams, and trails that can fill an easy or demanding day. In winter, the frozen waterfalls pull in ice climbers and photographers; in summer, the pleasure is the mix of ridge, gorge, and quiet northern forest.
Check current trail conditions before setting out. Some longer routes have had closures after damaged bridges and stairs, but shorter day hikes from the main trailheads remain the usual way to see the canyon.
