Riisitunturi National Park is a compact Lapland park northeast of Posio, known for slope mires, wooded fells, and wide views over lakes and forest. In winter it becomes one of Finland's classic snow-tree landscapes, when the spruces carry thick loads of frost and snow.
The popular route from the parking area to Riisitunturi fell is short enough for a day trip, but the park still feels remote. Bring proper winter clothing, food, and a charged phone, and do not count on fast help if the weather turns.
